Lucknow: The much-anticipated ‘OJ Mahotsav-2025’ (Intercollegiate Cultural Festival) was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh at National PG College, Lucknow, as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The event, spanning from March 3 to March 8, will feature a series of cultural and academic competitions.
The festival commenced on March 3 with various competitions, including Poster Making, Canvas Painting, Out of Waste, Mehndi Competition, and Extempore. Students from renowned institutions such as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, KKC Lucknow University, Women’s College, IT College, Khwaja Moinuddin University, Karamat Husain Girls College, KKB, Lucknow Public College of Professional Studies, and National PG College actively participated. Over 100 students showcased their creativity and talent on the opening day.
Participants displayed exceptional artistry by crafting useful items from waste materials in the ‘Out of Waste’ competition. The Poster Making contest focused on women’s empowerment, portraying various facets of womanhood. The Canvas Painting competition saw students illustrating themes such as Banaras Ghats, landscapes, nature’s connection with femininity, depictions of Krishna, and Buddha. Meanwhile, the Mehndi competition witnessed intricate designs adorning the hands of students from different colleges.
A highlight of the day was the Extempore Competition, where participants eloquently expressed their views on spontaneous political, social, and cultural topics. The winners of all competitions will be announced and awarded on March 8 at National PG College.
Continuing the festival’s momentum, a Youth Parliament competition is scheduled for March 4, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. The organizers have extended a warm invitation to media representatives for coverage.
Additionally, on March 3, as part of the History segment, a special lecture was delivered by Prof. Vighnesh Kumar from the Department of History, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. The lecture focused on the Battles of Tarain (1191 & 1192) and their historical implications. Principal Prof. Devendra Kumar Singh honored the esteemed guest with a bouquet, memento, and shawl.
Prof. Kumar elaborated on how the battles of Tarain led to the establishment of Muslim rule in the Indian subcontinent, paving the way for the Delhi Sultanate and shaping India’s medieval history. He emphasized that these battles played a pivotal role in transforming India’s socio-political landscape, marking a turning point in the country’s cultural and historical evolution.
The seven-day ‘OJ Mahotsav-2025’ promises a vibrant celebration of talent and intellect, bringing together students from various colleges to engage in spirited competition and intellectual discourse.
